Starlight Day
The Starlight Foundation is celebrating 25 years of transforming the lives of seriously ill children and their families on Starlight Day, 3 May 2013. To celebrate this milestone, 25 Starlight Ambassadors lend their support throughout the year. Ambassadors include celebrities, past and present Starlight children and their parents, volunteers and health professionals. Starlight Day aims to raise $1.5 million through events, community and corporate support and donations.
Every day thousands of children are admitted to hospitals around Australia. Some of them are faced with a diagnosis that can change the rest of their and their families lives. Starlight aims to transform the often traumatic experience of hospitalisation and treatment for these children by replacing pain and boredom with joy and laughter.
Individuals, corporations, schools and community groups are encouraged to get involved in Starlight Day by donating, volunteering and raising much-needed funds to help Starlight ‘Shine On’ and thus support seriously ill children and their families across Australia.
