Schizophrenia Awareness Week
editor | May 9, 2016
It’s Schizophrenia Awareness Week from 15 to 21 May 2016. This provides an opportunity to raise community awareness of schizophrenia and mental illness in general.
During the week there’ll be a range of activities, information displays and events such as a parliamentary luncheon, symposium and mental health forum.
Schizophrenia is an illness that affects the normal functioning of the brain, interfering with a person’s ability to think, feel and act. Symptoms of what is called psychosis include confused thinking, delusions and hallucinations.
